Ellen Lindquist

The music of American composer Ellen Lindquist is performed regularly throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, and has been heard around the globe. Discovery of unique soundworlds through collaboration is central to her work; several of her projects involve dance, theater, poetry and performance art. Commissions range from solo and chamber pieces to choral and orchestral works. Her work is published by Norsk Musikforlag, Marimba Productions and Apple Mountain Music Press.

Ellen has served as Associate Professor in the Composition Department at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in Trondheim, and has taught at the Gotland School of Music Composition in Sweden and at Stony Brook University in New York. She holds degrees from Stony Brook University (MA, PhD) and Middlebury College (BA). Ellen lives on the Fosen peninsula near Trondheim, Norway with her family, where she runs a house concert series. A deep respect for and love of the natural world is reflected in her work.
